Carmarthen Artist Mark Cox
Mark Cox is an established Carmarthen based artist who works in oils and watercolours.
Mark is an eclectic artist who enjoys working on a variety of subjects, producing landscapes, street scenes, marine and coastal paintings. Mark, who has been painting all his life, gained an honours degree in fine art through Trinity College, Carmarthen. Although having a wide appreciation of art Mark now concentrates on traditional methods of painting.
Mark says:
“My artistic influences are too numerous to list but they mainly pertain to artists up to and including the impressionists. Later artists that interest me include.Edward Hopper, and David Salle. The greatest influence on my work has to be the landscape and coastline of Wales.
For my own works I am more interested in “pleasing the eye” than making any great cerebral statement.”
Mark has exhibited widely in Bristol, Brecon, Dublin, Mid- and South-West Wales, including Cardiff and the National Assembly for Wales. His work has been sent as far as Australia, Hong Kong and USA.
