Trudi Finch

I have painted and drawn all my life, and have always searched out fairy places – as a child I thought I had found fairies in the brilliant and beautiful butterflies in my mother’s garden.
Much later my daughter went in search of fairies around our Scottish home, and many of my own fairies are based on Clare as a small child.
In the past I have created intricate engravings of fairies on handmade paper, as well as large canvases using delicate transparent washes of acrylics. I can indulge my love of colour in the richness of the fairy wings.
It takes weeks to complete one of the big fairy canvases, painting layer upon layer of colour – sometimes the canvas is put away for months at a time so that I can look at it afresh and regain inspiration.
